How do I create a MindLabs account?

Tap the “Login” button at the top of www.exploremindlabs.com.  Then click “Don’t have an account?”  Fill out the details and check your inbox for a confirmation email!

Your account will have limited features until you have entered your product code.

Where do I find my product code?

After completing your purchase, you will receive an email from us with your product code.  Need help?  We’re here for you:  info@exploresupport.com

What materials do I need to get started?

Each of our augmented reality units requires the corresponding card deck to initiate the experience.  Check out our store to explore the sets that are available!

What’s included in my MindLabs teacher dashboard?

You’ll get access to classroom management tools, students’ digital notebooks, progress tracking, readiness check-ins, and collaboration insights — all in one place.

You’ll also receive extensive onboarding and training resources, including a complete product guide, as well as lesson plans and corresponding assignments for each unit.

How do I set up my classroom?

Select Classrooms from the left side menu. Then tap “+ Classroom.”  Start your classroom by uploading a student roster or inputting students individually in the Student Management area.  More detailed guidance is available once you’re logged in, tap the Resources link from the left menu to access video tutorials or written instructions.

How do I set up my assignments?

In MindLabs, an assignment is created once you select a task and assign it to a specific class.  Go to Tasks from the left side menu.  You can filter to the unit first to easily find the assignment referenced in the lesson plans.  You have the ability to edit, assign or delete tasks.  Special note: some tasks require you to group the students before assigning the task.  This is done in Classrooms -> Group Sets.  More detailed guidance is available once you’re logged in, tap the Resources link from the left menu to access video tutorials or written instructions.

What devices work with MindLabs?

MindLabs works best on tablet devices.  We are compatible with iPads, iPhones, Android tablets and Android phones.  We do not currently support Fire tablets or iPhones.

Chromebook users can participate by adding text or images to notebooks as well as logging their individual “Readiness to Learn” and peer feedback “Kudos.”  Users cannot view the AR experience because AR is not compatible with most Chromebook devices.

Using MindLabs in the Classroom

What grade levels and standards does MindLabs support?

MindLabs is designed for 3rd to 5th grade and is aligned to NGSS standards.

Do I need a device for every student?

Students can work independently on their own device or pair up with a teammate.  A group requires at least one iPad but students can participate in the non AR activities without an iPad by using a web browser.

How does the built in digital notebook work?

Students document experiments and design progress, answer prompts, and reflect on learning directly in the app or from a web browser. They can also include images of their progress!  Teachers will see updates in real time.

How can I track student progress and collaboration?

The teacher dashboard shows participation, collaboration, and SEL check-ins so you get a complete picture of student engagement.  You can also view student answers to notebook and reflection questions consolidated in one place!

Can I customize or create my own lesson plans using MindLabs?

Yes!  The MindLabs features can be easily customized to be utilized with existing lessons for any classroom project!  Creating tasks is easy, and your custom text can directly align with your curriculum.

How long does a typical MindLabs session take?

Most lessons take 30-45 minutes, but activities are flexible for small groups, classrooms, or out of class learning.

Can MindLabs be used in STEM labs or out-of-school settings?

Absolutely! MindLabs works well for whole-class instruction, small group rotationals or independent exploration.

How do I manage classroom devices during AR activities?

We recommend pairing no more than 2 students per device to encourage collaboration and keep groups engaged.

Does MindLabs integrate with Clever, Google Classroom, or other LMS tools?

We are piloting with Clever at the teacher level at this time. If you need help setting up your classroom, contact us and we would be happy to support you.

Can an administrator manage data across grade levels or schools?

Yes.

What support is available for IT teams?

We provide set up guides, device compatibility lists, and troubleshooting resources for smooth implementation. We are also available (link to form) if you need additional support.

How does MindLabs protect student data?

MindLabs is FERPA and COPPA compliant.

Does MindLabs collect or sell student information?

No. We never sell personal data and only collect information necessary to support learning.

Student Access

How do I log in to MindLabs from home?

Students must use the username and password assigned by their educator to log in using any browser at www.learnwithexplore.com.  To view in app content, you must have the MindLabs STEM app downloaded on a mobile device.

Do I need an access code or class code?

In most cases, an access code is not required.  Contact your educator if one appears to be required.

Can I use MindLabs on my Chromebook, iPad, or laptop?

All devices with internet access can use the MindLabs Notebook, SEL and Collaboration tools by logging in to the account

MindLabs Augmented Reality activities are only available on mobile devices such as phones and tablets like iPads.  It is not available for Fire devices.

Some Chromebooks can install the MindLabs STEM app from the Google Play store, but most do not have the capability.

What should I do if the app won’t open?

Try restarting the device and updating the app. If issues persist, contact support.

What browsers work best with MindLabs?

How do I update my app to the latest version?

How can parents support their child’s use of MindLabs?

Parents can review digital notebooks, explore AR cards together, and encourage STEM conversations at home.

Is there a way for parents to see student progress?

Yes, teachers can share digital notebook reports or summaries upon request or view the student's work using the student credentials.

Device Compatibility

What devices are supported?

All devices with internet access can use the MindLabs Notebook, SEL and Collaboration tools by logging in to their account with only a browser at www.learnwithexplore.com.

MindLabs Augmented Reality activities are compatible with iPads, iPhones, Android tablets and Android phones.  We do not currently support Fire tablets. You must instal the MindLabs STEM app

Is MindLabs available offline or only online?

Students can utilize the AR experience independently offline, however none of their work in AR or the notebook will be saved during offline use.

An internet connection is required for group AR experiences and any digital notebooking that they intend to save.

Do I need to download the app, or can I use it in a browser?

All devices with internet access can use the MindLabs Notebook, SEL and Collaboration tools by logging in to their account with only a browser at www.learnwithexplore.com.

MindLabs Augmented Reality activities are only available on mobile devices such as phones and tablets like iPads that have installed the MindLabs STEM app.

Common Issues

I forgot my password, how do I reset it?

Click “Forgot Password” from the log-in screen.  Then enter your email and click reset password.  Check your email for a link to reset your password.

Students may ask their educator to reset their password for them in the teacher dashboard.  Edit the password for be clicking the pencil to “Edit” the student in Classroom→Student Management

The AR camera isn’t recognizing my deck, what should I do?

Confirm which unit you have selected by tapping the notebook icon in the upper right corner.  The third tab should show your unit.   You must be using the card deck that corresponds to the unit you are using.

  • Force and Motion - requires the “Reggy” deck
  • Light and Sound - requires the “Echo” deck
  • Habitat and Adaptation - requires the “Delta” deck 
  • Energy and Circuits - requires the “Anne” and “Atom” deck
  • CoLabs - no augmented reality capabilities

Why are my photos being rejected with the message “Image failed content review!”

MindLabs screens the photo and prohibits the upload of images that contain personal identifying information or faces as well as violence or other concerning content.  

Retake your photo to be sure these items are not present.  Please contact us at info@exploresupport.com if you need help.

My students can’t see their assignments in the dashboard, how do I fix it?

From your teacher dashboard, confirm that you have the assignment you are looking for assigned to a classroom where your student is rostered.

What does my error message mean?

A first troubleshooting step for many errors is to update the app to the most recent version.

Why are my students experiencing discrepancies in what they see in their AR experience even though they are in the same group?

A first troubleshooting step for many errors is to update the app to the most recent version.  Student devices must be on the same version to work together!
